Founded over 40 years ago in Sliema, The House Shop began as a family-run business with a passion for quality furniture and soft furnishings. What started as a retail store with an in-house cane workshop quickly became a go-to destination for stylish interiors.
When Michele O’Reilly returned from years of experience in London and Los Angeles, she brought a fresh perspective, modernizing the business and expanding its scope. In 2011, The House Shop moved to a larger showroom in Ta’ Xbiex, and by 2014, Michele took full ownership, steering the company into the world of high-end residential and hospitality design.
With a strong focus on bespoke interiors and luxury projects, The House Shop has made its mark on some of Malta’s most iconic spaces, from the historic Manoel Theatre to the Phoenicia Hotel’s exclusive Pegasus Suites. The launch of a dedicated contract division in 2014 cemented its reputation in the luxury hospitality market, supplying top tier hotels, restaurants, and offices.
